Project Overview

The Carroll County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC) is a specialized high school, hosting 25 career-oriented programs for students county-wide. Overprogrammed and in demand, the school needed both a renovation and an expansion. The 77,000 SF renovation and 98,000 SF addition provided the opportunity to reorganize the CTE programs into six clusters to maximize collaboration opportunities and prioritize the visibility of student work.

Our Approach

The project requires an updated entry, improved parking lots, and responsive grading for the new addition. An existing on-site pond provides sufficient quantity stormwater management for the proposed improvements. A new pretreatment facility will treat all existing impervious area and a new micro-bioretention facility will treat all new impervious area.

One of the parking lots is shared with adjacent Westminster High School. This lot was improved to create dedicated areas for each school with a central drive aisle separating the lots. The CCCTC parking lot is designed with additional medians and green areas to decrease impervious area. The Westminster HS lot, used for both parent drop off and marching band practice, will only be restriped – the flexibility of the lot was essential to these activities.
